Luna Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-26

Summary

Luna is a kids’ English-learning app designed for children. It is distributed through Apple’s App Store (Kids Category) and Google Play (Designed for Families). Luna does not collect or transmit personal information about children or guardians to us. There are no Luna accounts, analytics, third-party advertising SDKs, or in-app chat features. Learning progress stays on your device by default. On Apple devices, a parent may optionally enable Apple Game Center from the parent-gated Parent Zone, as described below.

What we do not collect

What stays on your device

The app stores your child’s learning progress, stars earned, preferences, and an optional first name you enter during setup (used only to greet your child in the app) locally on your device using a private on-device database. By default, this data:

Optional Apple Game Center

On iPhone and iPad, a parent may choose to connect Luna to Apple Game Center from inside the parent-gated Parent Zone. When enabled, Luna sends Apple only these aggregate progress values:

Luna does not send the child’s name, individual answers, mistakes, activity history, certificate images, preferences, or advertising identifiers to Game Center. Apple associates submitted scores and achievements with the Game Center account signed in on the device. Apple provides the leaderboard, achievement, challenge, activity, invitation, and player-profile interfaces under Apple’s privacy policy and Game Center settings.

Parents can stop future Luna progress syncing at any time from Parent Zone. Disabling Luna’s sync does not delete information already stored by Apple; that information is managed through the Apple account and Game Center settings.

Parent-controlled certificate sharing

The parent-gated Certificates screen can create a certificate image from on-device progress. If you entered an optional child first name, that name may appear on the certificate. Luna does not upload the image. Only when a parent taps Share certificate does Luna open the device’s standard share sheet so the parent can choose whether and where to send or save it.

Once a parent selects another app or service from the share sheet, that provider’s privacy policy applies. Parents can remove the child’s name in Parent Zone before creating or sharing a certificate.

No purchases or advertising

Luna does not contain in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertising, or paid content packs. All learning content bundled with the app is included at no additional charge. Luna does not access, receive, store, or process payment information.

Store update checks

When Luna opens or returns to the foreground, it asks the device’s official app store whether a newer Luna version is available. On iPhone and iPad, the request goes directly to Apple’s App Store lookup service. On Android, the check uses Google Play’s official in-app update service. Luna does not send your child’s name, learning progress, preferences, advertising identifier, or another persistent identifier as part of this check, and we do not operate a version-check server or receive the request.

If the store reports a newer version, Luna may pause learning until a parent updates the app. Opening the App Store or Google Play is protected by Luna’s parent gate. If the store check cannot run because the device is offline or the store service is unavailable, Luna continues to work offline.

Children’s privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K / Designed for Families)

Luna is built specifically for children. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Apple’s Kids Category guidelines, and Google Play’s Designed for Families program:

Inside the Parent Zone (which itself requires solving a parent-gate math problem to enter), parents may tap an “Instagram” link to contact us. Tapping this link opens the Instagram app or instagram.com. Once you leave Luna and open Instagram, Meta’s own privacy policy applies. Luna does not send any data to Instagram or Meta beyond the act of opening the link.

There are no external links accessible to children.

Third-party services involved

Beyond your device’s operating system, the third parties involved in Luna are:

We do not integrate any other third-party services, SDKs, or libraries that collect data.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and ship the new version with an app update. You will see the change before any new app version reaches your device.
